Stiffener Definition Dialog

Opens when Stiffener Definition is selected in the Superstructure group.

Save DGN

The following button will export the Stiffener definition 2D model directly and accurately to Microstation DGN file format, including layers. Save the DGN file in the desired location and once the export is successful you can browse to file location and open/view in Microstation.

Member Options Press this button to see a series of options that allow control of the member geometric proportions. These options have no effect on the actual stiffener being defined and only provide tools to control the display so that overall proportions and sizes are close to actual:
  • Distance between member webs -- changes the distance between the two main members in the display.
  • Default all -- sets all parameters back to their default value.
  • Use standard section -- If a standard section is used in the main member it can be selected from the list and its dimensions used in the display.
  • Web height -- changes the web height of both girders.
  • Web thickness -- changes the web thickness of both girders.
  • Top flange width -- changes the top flange width.
  • Top flange thick -- changes the top flange thickness.
  • Bot. flange width -- changes the bottom flange width.
  • Bot. flange thick -- changes the bottom flange thickness.
  • OK -- exit and accept the changes.
  • Cancel – exit without saving the changes.
Add Stiffener Press the folder icon to create a new stiffener. When the edit box appears in the CFD list accept the default name or enter a new name then hit the Enter key.
Delete Stiffener Delete a stiffener by highlighting the CFD name in the list and press the Delete (X) button.
Function From the dropdown list select the function of the stiffener. Options are Connection plate, Bearing stiffener and Shear Stiffener.
Width Enter the width of the stiffener plate in inches.
Thickness Enter the thickness of the stiffener plate in inches.
Material Select the material to be used from the drop-down list. The materials are those shown in the material table.
Corner Clip These optional dimensions define any inside or outside corner clipping dimensions.
Top Inner H Enter the top inner width of the clip in inches.
Top Inner V Enter the top inner height of the clip in inches.
Top Outer H Enter the top outer width of the clip in inches.
Top Outer V Enter the top outer height of the clip in inches.
Bottom Inner H Enter the bottom inner width of the clip in inches.
Bottom Inner V Enter the bottom inner height of the clip in inches.
Bottom Outer H Enter the bottom outer width of the clip in inches.
Bottom Outer V Enter the bottom outer height of the clip in inches.
OK Press this button to save all changes and exit the dialog.
Cancel Press this button to exit the dialog without saving changes.
